About Me :)

Hello, my name is Jasmine Dewart and I'm from Grants Pass, Oregon. I'm a sophomore at a tiny country school called North Valley High School! I'm a very opinionated and open-minded girl who has dreams that she would like to accomplish way before she dies! I applied to the American Field Service to study abroad in the fall semester of 2010. I possibly want to either go to Puerto Rico or France. Either way I'm very open with all ideas! I've really never been out of the country, and I don't think going to California counts since I was only there for five minutes without REALIZING I was there until I bought this really cute bracelet (Darn sales-tax).

I've been pretty hesitant about where I go, what I do, and when I do it. This is something I have thought about, and now I'm finally going after it without looking back. I WANT to go and study abroad, to learn about something different than my own history and my own culture. I want to expand my mind to different opinions, ideas,
worlds. I can't just look at photos on the internet and say, 'Yeah! I went to the Great Wall of China!' without NOT being there. Photos aren't as great as the real thing.

Being a sophomore I'm already college bound. I want to major in psychology at the University of Oregon, but for now I'm focusing on school work, my friends and family, and maybe even the occasional few hours of sleep. I am in the Youth Advisory Council at Options, a counseling program for adolescences. I also volunteer in sporadic programs and events around my tiny town, and it's great! I get to meet lots of new people and gain some new friends.

Hopefully I can reach my goal into studying abroad, and learning new aspects I would have never thought of. However unfortunately the path to get there isn't quite so smooth, and this is why I am asking for your help. The overall estimated price (including tuition, spending money, supplies, airfare tickets, etc.,) is about $9,000. I know. That's quite a lot. I want to start small though, make baby steps, if you know what I mean. Nothing donated will be too small. Everything adds up. You won't be disappointed by the kind donation you can make. Whether it's one dollar or a hundred, all of you will be blessed.
Click on the ChipIn! gadget on the top right of this blog to help me with my journey, by making a secure non tax-deductible donation. This journey I'm about to make will forever change my life, and I want you apart of it, nonetheless. I would appreciate it if you would forward this blog to others who you would think would be interested in sponsoring my AFS experience. The link to my blog is http://afsxftw.blogspot.com/. Thank you for taking your time to read this! I appreciate it!

Love,
Jasmine.
